I met President Carter at his first book signing in Minneapolis. It was a bitter cold night and we took our two young daughters out on a cold snowy night to attend the book signing. We waited for my husband to have his book signed. He was at the front of the Line! President Carter spoke to him and looked directly at our toddler daughters. He smiled and waved at them and they waved back! Friends for a moment and forever! As adults we volunteered at Habitat and helped to build a few homes! What a lovely experience and Carter friends forever. Rest in peace and thank you for leading us as an example of how we can easily help others. Thank you.

President Carter has been an inspiration to me my whole life. I remember voting for him in our elementary mock elections and he spoke at my college graduation. His humanitarian work has inspired and helped so many. God bless you President Carter.

President Carter walked the way of the cross. He truly epitomized what Jesus asked us to do. He loved God and his neighbors as himself. May his soul rest in peace and his memory be a blessing to all his family, friends and people around the world he had touched. Amen.

I only hope that through my volunteering with Habitat for Humanity Tucson, as our 39th President, Jimmy Carter did throughout this country, that I might help just one family gain hope and strength through this organization as he did for thousands throughout this country. President Carter was an honorable man, an example of a true Christian and loving husband. His selflessness for our country and fellow people was above most. His dedication to Habitat for Humanity inspired me to volunteer. I had hope to work on a project with him. I wish we had more leaders like him. Praying for the family.

After retiring from the army in 1996, Houston Habitat for Humanity hired me as the Deputy Project Manager for the 1998 Jimmy Carter Work Project. What an honor to go to 97 CWP in Pikeville, KY, to support that build and gain experience for planning the 98 CWP. 100 houses across 5 build sites, 6000+/- volunteers and all completed in a week! So honored and blessed to have met such a great man! RIP!

You were the very first president I had the honor to vote for. You are such an inspiration. As they say, the presidency was only a stepping stone to your life’s greatest work. Thank you, and may you rest in peace with your love Rosalynn.

President Carter set the most exemplary standard for post- presidency - He was the ultimate citizen! Ultimately it is our actions, not our intentions that mattered - and his life and legacy mattered to our nation.

It was because of President Jimmy Carter that I became aware of Habitat for Humanity and began donating a few dollars as a graduate student. In 2004, Habitat for Humanity was listed as a reputable charity following the mega-tsunami that hit Indonesia. At that point, I discovered the Global Village program and began to volunteer. Thank you President Carter for expanding my world.

He was a wonderful human being and an inspired leader. The world is a little dimmer today with his passing. I loved the pictures of Jimmy and Rosalynn in their hard hats at Habitat sites. If all world leaders could be so enlightened, we would have a very different world.

I didn't agree with a lot of President Carter's policies, but I respect and admire his philanthropy. Instead of a hand out, he gave a hand up, and was willing to work alongside others to help. He (and First Lady Rosalynn were truly inspiring. We'll miss that.

I helped build some homes in Albany over the years- loved doing it! It was because I had heard about this organization through President Jimmy Carter's involvement. A wonderful experience. Grateful to him for so many reasons.

I was proud to vote for President Carter twice. My wife and I truly loved the Carters. Their kindness and dedication to service was an inspiration for so many people, and will forever be missed. Jimmy and Rosalynn are holding hands tonight. So let’s not mourn but rejoice in a life well lived.

President Carter modeled Faith in Action for all to see and be inspired.

When I was a boy my mother first shared with me all of the wonderful things that Jimmy Carter did in his presidency. She then went on to tell me of even more he did with Habitat for Humanity. I was also inspired by his steadfast faith. My family has always been involved in the service industry and trying to help volunteer to bring joy to people. I eventually got into the trades help and those who have difficulty helping themselves at their current stage in life. Following president Jimmy Carter’s example, and the wonderful compassion had for others, I always be inspired by his generosity, steadfastness, and never wavering faith. I will continue lifting peoples spirits as President Jimmy Carter did for so many years.

A great life, a great legacy, a great man. What a loss to our world.

As a Habitat volunteer in high school and college, President Carter’s dedication and goodness was inspiring. The world is a better place because of Jimmy and Rosalynn. Prayers to the family.

My first Habitat experience was in Tucson, AZ working with people of all stripes from all states harmoniously.

Jimmy Carter was the first president I voted for. In autumn 1976, I was a college freshman and campaigned for him on my campus. He was so popular with young people; a true “everyman.” I was still 17 and couldn’t vote for him in ‘76, but 4 years later in ‘80, I proudly cast my first presidential vote for Carter-Mondale. I am 65 now and will miss my hero every day. Bless you, President Carter!

He truly cared about the importance of having a home in which to center one’s life. He lived long and well in service to others.

President Carter was the first president I came to know ultimately because of Camp David and his humanity. During his presidency, we were forced to leave our country and migrated to the US. I loved how he cared about people and certainly his zeal for Habitat for Humanity. Well done, humble servant of Lord. RIP

Since 1997, a group of about 30 friends has come together at the holidays for a party to raise donations for Habitat, inspired by President and Mrs. Carter’s commitment to Habitat’s mission and the global impact of the Carter Center. We will carry on, remembering their steadfast belief in the dignity of all human beings. Rest in peace, surrounded by Love.

My son Jason worked for Habit for Humanity. I went to visit him in Americas GA. I wanted to meet President Carter and First Lady Rosalynn Carder. We waited a bit to have our picture taken with them. He and Rosalynn were so gracious, and my son and I had a picture taken with them. He taught Sunday school at the church when he was in town. Peace makers and helping the poor help themselves.
