Love Jimmy Carter, my all time favorite and most humanitarian president ever.

I was reminded of one of my favorite foster daughter memories. My husband was volunteering at a house build where Carter himself would be working. We brought our foster girls along. My husband handed one a camera. “See that man in the hat right there? That’s Jimmy Carter! Take lots of pictures of him.” At the end of the she’d taken an entire roll of pics of Carter. When the film was developed, we found she had taken an entire roll of pics of a man in a hat who was NOT Jimmy Carter! I kept thinking about what must have been going through this volunteer’s mind each time he turned around & there was a girl taking his pic!

Sincere gratitude for all he and Mrs. Carter have done to promote kindness and caring, for taking time to help those in need and teaching us good values in our lives and for promoting ethics and honesty in a world where so little exists today.

I made list of heroes I wanted to meet a part of an exercise — name them and your odds of meeting them goes up. I've done 25 years of Habitat building, and met Pres. Carter at the 2010 Build in Saint Paul, MN. You inspired my involvement.. and continued financial support. Well done, good and faithful servant.

Jimmy Carter is my hero. I cannot think of anyone who has done the amount of good he has done with such humble motivation. I know that he is now in a better place than the world that he worked so endlessly and tirelessly to improve for all of the people who inhabit it.

Rest in God's loving arms dear President Jimmy Carter. I was part of your Habitat for Humanity project in the Philippines when it started. You visited the house we were building and I was in awe of you being so low key, humble and approachable. I don't have any pics but my memories of that will forever be etched in my heart and mind. Thank you for being the epitome of humility and generosity for us.

Jimmy Carter taught all of us what simple acts of kindness can reap. May we find a way to reach out, to be kind, to be generous and to live a life of goodness in his honor. Thank you Mr. President.

How blessed we were to have this man among us. He may have lost a second term as President but his contributions to our country, his decency, integrity, and his goals of helping the less fortunate were second to none. Rest In Peace, Mr. President. You have completed the race and kept the faith.

Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter are truly inspirational. Their faith was demonstrated every day in their words and actions. The world would be a much better place if more of us could follow their examples of wisdom, compassion, and optimism.

Dear President Carter, you were the first President I voted for. I was a young college student in WV. I will always remember that. Thank you for being our President and greatest humanitarian. You will be missed. I have no doubt that God has brought you to him. Peace be with your family.

President Carter was a humanitarian to the core. His faith in God, love for all and resolute belief in safe affordable housing causes have helped humanity make great progress. His humility and kindness will forever live in our hearts. He was such a role model and inspiration to everyone!

As a Habitat Homeowner, I am in awe of the Carter’s giving spirit. They are shining examples of the Christian way of life. The grace my family received, may seem just a grain of sand, but together with all the other families, we are an endless beach founded in hope and love. Habitat for Humanity of Bucks County Pennsylvania.

Our country was truly blessed to have such an experienced, insightful and empathetic man serve in its highest office. The incredible work that President Carter did in his later years was a shining example of humanity for the generations of Americans who were lucky enough to witness it — and will be for many generations to come.

Carter's commitment to helping those who want to help themselves inspired me to volunteer with Habitat in North Carolina and now in Pennsylvania. When those receiving a new home participate in the build, they learn skills to maintain their home.

A life well lived! And an amazing role model for future posterity.

My condolences to the Carter family on their loss. President Carter is one of my earliest memories of a U.S. President. What a gracious man who loved his wife, family, and country. I hope and pray that we get another like President Carter in the near future. I will pray for your family.

I found out about Habitat for Humanity mission through the President Carter. At first I donated to the organization, but in 2004 I became a global volunteer with my first trip to Anchorage and I got hooked. I have visited several countries/continents. I have made numerous friends who I consider family. Thank you President Carter and may your work continue here on Earth. Peace.

President Carter's service to Habitat for Humanity influenced me to volunteer with the organization. It was at a time when I needed to find something that would move me away from my struggles at the time. What I found was the most humbling, rewarding & community-centered work I have ever done. I worked on a house build project outside Hanoi some years back. On the last day, Rosalynn and Jimmy Carter showed up and I had the opportunity to meet them. To have met such remarkable and truly good people has become a significant event of my own life, and a model for going forward.

President Carter was an inspiration to many and will be missed greatly. His legacy will live on forever.

A noble gentleman and a leader who led through compassion.

My mother was a Carter delegate and Chip Carter came to our home during the campaign for President. We did not have a spare bedroom for him and he stayed in my room while I moved across the hall for the night. I spent many hours our local Bethlehem PA Carter headquarters. My friends and I did a lot of canvassing for my mom as a Carter delegate (we were in our early teens then), and most of my friends reach out to me now in fond memory of that effort, also crediting it with opening their eyes to politics. As a young girl, I think the Carters and my mother's involvement made me believe I could do or be anything. I attended the Carter inauguration with my parents, and I reported back to my school in essays about the day, which I still have. When my mother died last year, my brother received the large poster of thanks from Jimmy Carter for her involvement in his campaign. It is hanging proudly now in his home outside of Washington D.C., having moved from its spot over my mother's bedroom dresser. I have the gold peanut earrings and pin. I think this experience melded my belief that anyone could become president, even a farmer. In my young eyes I saw a person I thought was very genuine and good; I loved how he spoke plainly and with passion, all the while wearing a cardigan sweater. This plain style resonates still with me. His works after the presidency serve as a model of how to serve, and it is no wonder that so many people connect with and admire and honor his ethos. So inspiring. May he rest in peace and my hope is that his memory will continue to inspire me to do selfless good for others.

I was a young girl in a foreign country, Saudi Arabia, in 1978. President Carter came to visit, and I remember my parents having us stand on a corner waving small American flags in his honor. He drove right by us, looked and waved at us. Since that moment, I have followed and been inspired by his life and service. Though my life was not only service based, as I have gotten older, I see the need and necessity. His inspiration has come back to me, and I hope I can live a life serving others as I move forward in mine, Thank you President Carter for inspiring me to look beyond myself and serve others.

What a beautiful model for being a true humanitarian and human being. Also, a president! A true example of living in service for the betterment of others. Hopefully he will be remembered and valued for all of that. If we can get better.

His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful and trustworthy over a little, I will put you in charge of many things; share in the joy of your master.’ RIP Mr. President. You showed us how we should live, love and have compassion for our fellow world citizens.
