The first time I voted, it was for Jimmy Carter. I met him on a plane from Charleston to Atlanta long ago and after he was out of the White House. He went through the entire plane and greeted each passenger. I was in the last row and as he waited to go back to the front of the plane I was able to chat with him. A man of integrity and goodness. My husband and I worked at a Habitat build in Pueblo, Mexico, in October, 2004. President Carter and Rosalynn were there working. It was an amazing experience of giving back. They were a great example of living the simple life and giving back.
