I met the Carters when I was a Peace Corps volunteer in Costa Rica. They were friends of then president Rodrigo Carazo here. I had the privilege of going with Estrella Carazo and Rosalynn Carter to visit several special education schools here. We were just starting them back then. But they all still exist. Thanks to you.

I was at the Carter Center a long time ago. I asked the ladies in the gift shop if President Carter or Mrs. Carter came to the Center very regularly. They laughed and told stories about her coming to the gift shop with her Christmas shopping list. They laughed as they described it and I could feel their affection for her. I could see in my mind’s eye her with that list walking around and pointing to this gift for that friend or this person. May she rest in well deserved peace. I know she will hear “Well done my good and faithful servant, we’ll done”. We were all blessed to share time on this earth with this amazing woman.
