My sister, my cousin and I worked alongside Rosalynn and Jimmy at the Habitat project in Haiti in 2012. It was a transformative experience, challenging and rewarding and I recall the effortless way these two beautiful people picked up hammers and dug into the task just like the rest of us. Unforgettable!

It is with deep sadness that I share with others, the loss of Rosalynn Carter. Mrs. Carter dedicated much of her life to important issues and causes without seeking recognition, but rather, with sincerity, devotion, and humility. I have the utmost admiration for a woman who lived her life caring for a husband, a family, and partner to a U.S. President, no less. She was an ambassador for those in need of critical help, and was integral in forming relationships to aid in those causes. May her life serve as an example to others!

I recently finished reading the book, Our Better Angels, by Jonathan Reckford, CEO of Habitat for Humanity. I was amazed at the outpouring of volunteers from all over the world who come to work on the various projects, and I was emotionally moved by the difference it made in the lives of the people involved. We have been monthly donors for many years, and it was gratifying to know that our dollars are going for such a worthy cause. The Carters have truly been a blessing to so many.

Though I do not remember Mrs. Carter’s years as First Lady since I was 6-10 at the time. I do have tremendous admiration and appreciation for what she did after her years as First Lady. Her tireless advocacy for those in our country who needed mental health help in a time when no one talked about or easily accessible. Her work with Habitat for Humanity showed that anyone could be of help. Rip💜

I was involved in a building project in Stead (Reno), NV several years ago. I was happy to help! I think more places should accommodate such programs, especially with the skyrocketing price of housing, now! Thank you Rosalynn for making this happen. You are an angel on earth. Peace to her family & friends that only God can provide. It seems that I too, will be needing this program, soon.

I was 19 in 1977 when as First Lady Mrs. Carter went on a diplomatic mission to Latin America. She modeled for me and others that men aren’t the only ones who can have a significant role to play in the world. In 1985 I got to meet Mrs. Carter at a parade in Plains, GA. I also got to work on several Habitat for Humanity house builds with her and Jimmy Carter through the years. She taught me that being gracious and strong are not mutually exclusive. May you sing with the angels and may your memory be a blessing Rosalynn Carter.
