She restores my pride in an America in which a newly elected President could declare himself the son of Lilian, husband of Rosalynn, and father of Amy, see her as a valuable asset to the workings of his Administration, and then continue to join with her, through so many more decades, in active dedication to service, harmony and justice - and literal home building.

Working in 105+F heat in Houston in 1998 during the annual Carter Work Project I had the pleasure to be working the next street over from the Carters. It was a week when hundreds of people were treated for heat-related illness, but at 5:30 PM every day when I was dragging myself off the site in exhaustion, I would walk by the house where Rosalynn and Jimmy, 35 yrs older, were still working away.

It is a great loss for humanity and of course her husband, President Jimmy Carter and her family. Humanity has lost a dear and generous friend. We may not all be able to give as much financially, but we can give what we can afford, and also give of our time, or perhaps our skills. I have no doubt she is with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and those who believe will see her again.
