I volunteered at HFH in Americus, GA in 2006-2008 and had the pleasure of meeting both Rosalynn and President Carter in Plains. She was so down to earth. What a meaningful life she led and she leaves a legacy of service supporting causes she believed in and was a humble and gracious First Lady. God bless the entire Carter family at this time of loss. One more bright star has been added to the sky.

Rosalynn. One of our best First Ladies forever. She deserves a wonderful memorial and worlds of respect. I am especially grateful for her mental health initiatives, but so much of what she did generally was deeply kind-hearted and charitable. I hope she is a model for millions of us.

I had never heard of Habitat for Humanity until I saw the Carters working and volunteering. They helped me find an organization really doing the work of affordable housing. Today I’m a board member in metro Maryland continuing the work. I count myself as a legacy of them because I saw Mrs. Carter and then followed her lead. May her memory be a blessing.

She was incredible. I admired and trusted her. The first time I ever saw Rosalynn, I was a college student and she was dashing around our coal town Main Street, and she grabbed the hand of anyone who had one. She struck me as a quiet dynamo. She was insistent that her husband was both a good person and the best person for the job – I voted for Jimmy on her say-so.
