Thanks for your inspiring leadership, Mrs. Carter. You lived your mission. I was honoured to ride the world’s slowest elevator with Mrs. Carter & Secret Service when volunteering on a Carter Work Project. The elevator doors closed, the fit men stepped aside and I saw a radiant woman who smiled at my amazed expression as I slowly recognized her. Mrs. Carter had the most beautiful radiant glow. RIP

Sincere Condolences to the Carter family. May you Rest In Peace, First Lady. I look to the 1977 inaugural address: “Our commitment to human rights must be ABSOLUTE, our laws fair, our natural beauty preserved; the POWERFUL MUST NOT PERSECUTE the WEAK and human dignity must be enhanced” You and President Carter lived this life but somewhere along the way our nation took a detour from these values.

I have idolized the Carters since I was 6 years old and had just had open heart surgery - a big deal for a kid in the 60s. I got to speak to them and shake their hand at the Georgia Press Association state conference on Jekyll Island. That respect for both of them has continued to this day, and will continue on forever. Mrs. Carter will always be an icon in my heart.

I think it's no coincidence it was born the day after Mrs. Carter's passing considering her care in preserving them in Georgia. This love for such a small creature, on top of the countless efforts she made to better our world, is testament to how blessed we were to have her among us.
