I volunteered for Habitat in El Salvador in 2003, when I was 50. When I was hot and tired I would remind myself that Rosalynn and Jimmy, more than 25 years older than I, were still doing Habitat work. I worked 2 more builds, finding humility, laughter, and a deeper understanding of humanity. Thank you Rosalynn and Jimmy. May you both find peace in Rosalynn’s passing. With gratitude, Linda Farrell

I wasn’t wise enough at the time Rosalynn Carter was First Lady, to realize how her influence would evolve & grow over time. So many other women my age at the time weren’t burning bras. We were wearing a military uniform & bras were required. However, wisdom occurs with aging. While her accomplishments have only grown, shining through has always been the indisputable love in their marriage.

What I admired most about Rosalynn Carter was genuine kindness. I was a kid when she and Jimmy were in the White House. I didn't know anything about politics, I could see how loving she was with their daughter, Amy. She has left an enduring legacy of service to her family and society as a whole. God bless the Carter family in their time of loss, especially President Carter.
Sincerly, Gretchen

I remember when the Carters came to Philly for a build a thon. I did not expect the President or Rosalynn to do any work. I figured it was a photo shoot. Surprisingly not only did they work alongside us but they had lunch with us, prayed with us and fellowshipped with the community. For that I would say, “Well done thy faithful servants”. Rest in Peace 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽

Some people we just want to live forever, as role model, uplifting inspiration, or just to know such goodness truly exists among the sprawling and divided humanity of today. I love President and Mrs. Carter. At 67, they remain the only first couple my vote actually counted towards putting in the White House. They are genuinely blessed.

All the time I have worked with President Jimmy Carter. Rosalynn was such a strong image of a person who gives of herself and encourages others to do so. Also she is a woman who I consider as a great lady in her time. I will surely miss her presence, smile and grit!!! Thank Rosalynn for showing me the way!! God Bless her and as an Angel in heaven she will shine forever!!!

As a Community College Professor of Geography in the 1980s, I began to encourage students to volunteer with the organization. Rosalynn and Jimmy Carter were and remained exemplary models of human decency. In every way possible I have been a supporter and personally still enjoy volunteering — though mostly only in my local Southern Santa Barbara County Community. Their legacy will long outlive their lifetimes.
