We met Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter on a Disney Cruise in 2002. They were there with the entire Carter clan to celebrate New Years. Jimmy gave a talk on 9/11. On New Years Eve, our daughter was in the kids club, so I picked up a balloon to bring to her. At the elevators, the Carters were right in front of us and someone knocked the balloon out of my hand. President Carter picked up the balloon and handed it to a little girl near me. I didn't have the heart to tell him that she wasn't my little girl...

Rosalynn Carter was such a fine example of United States First Lady with her calm leadership, unwavering support and consistent focus. Nationally she spearheaded affordable healthcare, education & community activism with a focus on the glaring inconsistencies of lower income housing issues. Internationally, along with her husband she was steadfast in her pledge to support peace and goodwill.

I have admired both Rosalynn and Jimmy Carter for many years. They accomplished so much, both while they were in the White House and, more importantly, during the decades after. It’s heartwarming to know they were a true partnership and worked selflessly throughout their lives to make this world a better place. My thoughts are with President Carter as he goes through this difficult time.

Rosalynn and Jimmy Carter were the most morally grounded inhabitants of the White House that can remember. I didn't agree with their politics but I learned a lot from the undying love they showed for each other. Rosalynn showed Jimmy unconditional support. She was humble and classy. Because of her I strive to be both. Jimmy will join you soon, Rosalynn! God has blessed you.

I met Rosalynn Carter for the first time at a Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter work project in Canada. We didn't work on the same home, but I recall stories of how she worked longer than anyone and took fewer breaks! I then had the pleasure of meeting her again at President Carter's childhood home in Plains, GA, where she spoke to the assembled group. She was funny and smart and a kind soul. May her memory be a blessing and may she rest in peace.

I admire First Lady Rosalynn Carter who gave of her herself and always thought of others, especially the elderly, the mentally ill and the homeless. One of her beloved causes was to help Habitat for Humanity build homes so all people could have a decent place to live. Wow, what a most remarkable human being!! Rosalynn Carter lived her entire adult life taking care of the needy and forsaken strangers from babies to the elderly, the mentally ill and the caregivers. I first got to know her as I was a 11 year old girl when her husband Jimmy Carter was elected our 39th President of the United States of America. I have continued throughout my life learning about this remarkable woman and I have watched in awe how she devoted herself to God's work here on Earth!
