Mrs. Carter was a fine woman and led by example on numerous causes. I recall seeing her build at a Carter Work Project in Michigan. She was also at one in South Bend, IN a few years back. Although her days building were behind her, she was an inspiration being on site. Her words as I shook her hand was “this is noble work we do”.

Truly a woman to admire and inspire others, Rosalynn Carter is one of my favorite First Ladies. Even more important is her leadership and sponsorship, along with President Carter, in the great organization Habitat for Humanity, that helps so many people. The Carters were in the White House during the majority of my college years, and I was impressed by their faith and humility in very trying times. My interest in, and later involvement with, Habitat for Humanity is because of the example they set. Rosalynn and Jimmy’s long, loving marriage was also a wonderful example for me...one I did not see in my own family. Well done, good & faithful servant!
