Dutch Coalition for Humanitarian Innovation, April 2021: Access to Modern Energy Accelerator Programme 2021

Dutch Coalition for Humanitarian Innovation and Netherlands Enterprise Agency started an Accelerator Programme to facilitate Habitat for Humanity to use open innovation principles. The programme enables humanitarian organizations to be the catalysts for tackling specific energy challenges, whilst opening themselves up to receiving the knowledge and business insights from energy experts and private-sector partnerships.

 

Le Jour Plus, March 2021: World Water Day 2021

Habitat for Humanity Côte d’Ivoire has served and impacted the lives of more than 200,000 vulnerable people through the Water, Hygiene and Sanitation Program. In order to enhance the importance of water and allow access to it for all, HFHCI has been setting up community water point management committees in the villages to ensure the sustainability of the structures.

 

Ethiopian Press Agency, March 2021: HFHE project assists destitute people livelihood

Habitat for Humanity Ethiopia hands over completed houses and WASH facilities to vulnerable families in Addis Ababa. Over 6,100 families or 31,000 individuals’ living conditions have been upgraded through Slum Upgrading project.

 

Front Page Africa, March 2021: Liberia: Providing safe drinking water, Hygiene and Sanitation services to over 30,000 people

Habitat for Humanity and its partner organization World Hope International, along with YMCA and the government of Liberia, completed construction works of a multi-year complex slum upgrading project to improve access to water, sanitation, solid waste collection services and a community infrastructure facility to promote social cohesion in Peace Island, Congo Town.

Habitat for Humanity Bulgaria invited 12 illustrators for creating the “Portraits of Hope” exhibition who created a total of 20 art works. Artists presented complex housing problems without portraying people as helpless victims. 

 

Kenya Broadcasting Corporation, February 2021: LG supports enhanced learning facilities for 625 children in Machakos

Habitat for Humanity Kenya in partnership with LG Electronics started an initiative which aims to improve learning infrastructure, water, sanitation and hygiene for 225 hearing-impaired children at the Machakos School for the Deaf and 400 Early Childhood Development learners at Kyumbi Primary School, Kenya.

Habitat for Humanity Ethiopia launches 18.9 million Housing and WASH Project in Addis Ababa in partnership with LG Electronics and Habitat for Humanity Korea with a view to improving the livelihood of the vulnerable segments of the community.
