We are Hopebuilders: Joanne Maillet
Joanne Maillet of Bellevue, Washington will tell you that kids are “her thing.” Kids are one of the main reasons that the retired nurse is a HopeBuilder.
“A house is part of the equation of breaking the cycle of poverty,” says Maillet, who has seven children and 14 grandchildren of her own. “It is hard to be properly nurtured if you don’t have a roof over your head.”
Joanne and her late husband, John, began donating to Habitat two decades ago. Making a monthly contribution each month is just easier, she says, than remembering to make one at the end of the year.
Joanne says she hopes her support of Habitat will encourage other people to give, too. “A basic human requirement is to help and aid those in need,” she says. “How can you not give?”
Help make a lasting impact with monthly giving, and provide the shelter that provides families with stability and opportunity. Any amount you give helps.
