DIY designers create art from antique ReStore items
Our Towns Habitat ReStore in North Carolina recently held their fourth annual ReStore ReStyle Design Challenge, which included the work of eight local DIY designers. Take a look at what they created from common vintage ReStore finds.
Silver serving trays
Silver serving trays are plentiful at the Habitat ReStore, and Courtney knew just what to do with them. A decorative tray wall serves as great storage, and it’s charmingly chic.
Vintage dresser
Have a vintage dresser with great lines but don’t need more space for clothes? Consider turning it into a wet bar like this team did!
Decorative wreath
This decorative wreath was designed from a garden hose and silk flowers.
Vintage stair railing chair
To create this stylish and functional chair, Andrea Hartley’s team laced rope through holes drilled in a stair banister.
Children’s craft area
Lynn Noble had a great idea for a plastic storage bin: Turn one upside down and pad it for the ultimate seat in children’s crafting. You can also paint a table with chalkboard paint to help little imaginations run wild.
Bathmat art
Laurie Hamilton and Karen Adams took home the “Best Use of the Mystery Item” award for the second year in a row by incorporating a “bubble” bath mat into this one-of-a-kind painting to add 3-D texture. The bubbles really make it pop!
Treadmill table
This bar is made from an old treadmill by designers Scot Slusarick and Janie Blackstock.
