Description
Hanover and King William Habitat for Humanity is a locally run, independent affiliate of Habitat International and is responsible for Hanover and King William Counties. For over 30 years, they have built homes alongside families who pay an affordable mortgage. Habitat’s repair program addresses critical repairs around the home. With Habitat’s help, and the help of the community, Habitat homeowners achieve the strength, stability, and independence they need to build a better life for themselves and their families. We build all of our homes with volunteer labor in partnership with volunteers like you. Under the supervision of our Construction Supervisor, all manual labor (except for licensed trades) is performed by volunteers. We truly could not do what we do without our amazing volunteers. Collegiate Challenge participants typically stay with us for 6 days and arrive on Sunday afternoon. They work 4 days on our construction site (weather permitting) with 1 day to sightsee, and leave on Saturday. Hanover and King William Habitat has a partnership with a local church that can provide living arrangements, if the group desires.

Join Habitat for Humanity of Georgetown County for a one-week Collegiate Challenge service trip and make a direct impact in a community where 1 in 5 households spend half or more of their income on housing and 16% of residents live below the poverty level. Habitat Georgetown has already built 121 homes and repaired more than 80, and your week of service helps continue that momentum. You’ll work alongside future Habitat homeowners and our skilled construction team throughout the week — no experience needed, and lunches are provided on service days. Housing is provided with a $250 contribution, giving you a comfortable home base as you explore Georgetown’s historic waterfront, museums, shops, and the natural beauty of the Lowcountry during your free time.Contact:Patrick Brannen, Marketing and Community Engagement CoordinatorE: [email protected]: +1 (843) 331-5757

Looking for a meaningful, hands-on alternative break experience? Join Asheville Area Habitat for Humanity for a week of service in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains of Western North Carolina (45 minutes S/E of Great Smokey Mountain National Park). Students will be immersed in Asheville’s vibrant arts culture, incredible food scene, and miles of scenic trails while contributing to hands-on work that strengthens our community. Affordable housing has long been one of Asheville’s most urgent challenges, and the need has only intensified in the wake of last year’s devastating tropical storm – Hurricane Helene. With median home prices over $590,000, rents above $1,500, and vacancy rates near 1%, many Asheville families struggle to find safe, stable housing. Hurricane Helene has only intensified this need, driving greater demand for repairs, accessibility upgrades, and long-term recovery support. Asheville Area Habitat for Humanity partners with families to build and preserve affordable housing through volunteer labor, homebuyer sweat equity, green building methods, and no-profit mortgages capped at 30% of income. Our Home Repair program also plays a critical role in helping long-time residents remain safely in their homes – an effort now more important than ever after the storm’s impact. A Collegiate Challenge week offers students the chance to learn new skills, forge meaningful connections, and play a direct role in Asheville’s ongoing recovery and resilience, while creating memories that last far beyond spring break.
