State Farm employees select Habitat for Humanity for award
Organization continues as corporate sponsor for Habitat youth programs
ATLANTA (Sept. 29, 2014) — State Farm employees recently awarded Habitat for Humanity 270,000 in funding as part of the company’s annual Founder’s Day celebration. The new funding builds on 800,000 that State Farm donated to Habitat earlier this year for 30 grants to help youth work with local Habitat affiliates and families.
This is the eighth year State Farm has been the national corporate sponsor of Habitat’s youth programs, which are designed to engage youth and young adults in the organization’s work to eliminate poverty housing.
“At State Farm, we recognize that having access to safe and affordable housing is key to sustaining strong neighborhoods,” says Kellie Clapper, assistant vice president of Philanthropy. “That is why we truly value our longstanding relationship with Habitat for Humanity International.”
State Farm has supported Habitat for Humanity since 1994 and has served as the national corporate sponsor of Habitat’s youth programs since 2007. To date, more than half a million young people have been engaged and more than 40 million has been raised as a direct result of State Farm donations of 6.7 million. Local offices contribute more than 500,000 annually to Habitat affiliates across the United States.
