J.M. Huber Corporation renews global partnership with Habitat for Humanity International
ATLANTA (Oct. 29, 2024) — J.M. Huber Corporation announced today it is renewing its partnership with Habitat for Humanity to support affordable and sustainable housing in communities around the world. The renewal is part of the company’s Huber Helps strategic philanthropy and community engagement program.
This year, the company will contribute $500,000 in cash support and donations of Huber Engineered Woods products to builds in locations where Huber operates, including Georgia, Maine, New York and Pennsylvania, as well as in Singapore, Hungary and Brazil. Employees from Huber and its portfolio companies — Huber Engineered Materials and Huber Engineered Woods — will also volunteer with Habitat to further their impact on the communities they serve.
“We are thrilled to be continuing our relationship with Habitat for Humanity International to provide safe and affordable housing for people in the communities where we live and work around the globe,” says Lea Volpe, vice president of communications and community relations at J.M. Huber Corporation. “As a sixth-generation family-owned enterprise, we believe that ensuring a safe place for every family to call home and creating multi-generational wealth through access to affordable housing is critical to building healthy communities and aligned with the Huber Principle of Respect for People.”
Since 2018, Huber has partnered with Habitat to help families improve their living conditions through affordable homeownership. Throughout the partnership, the Atlanta-based, family-owned company has contributed more than $3.5 million in funding and in donated products including ZIP System wall sheathing, sealing tape and AdvanTech subflooring. Huber was also a $100,000 sponsor of the 2023 Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter Work Project in Charlotte, North Carolina, providing both financial support and donating wall sheathing for the homes built during the weeklong build.
In 2022, Huber and Habitat announced an expansion of their partnership to support home renovation and educational programs in global communities where the company has operations. Huber continues its support of projects in Singapore to assist older adults and low-income families with home repairs, and in Hungary to help families needing emergency home repairs after disasters. Additionally, Huber is supporting a water, sanitation and hygiene renovation initiative in Brazil to help families have access to clean water and functioning bathrooms.
“We are excited for the continuation of our partnership with Huber,” said Charlita Stephens-Walker, vice president of corporate partnerships and cause marketing at Habitat for Humanity International. “The global need for housing is dire, with more than one billion people living in inadequate shelters. With the support of Huber, we can further our efforts to ensure everyone has access to safe, decent and affordable housing. We are grateful for their partnership and look forward to working together alongside more families around the world to build or improve a place to call home.”
About Habitat for Humanity
Driven by the vision that everyone needs a decent place to live, Habitat for Humanity found its earliest inspirations as a grassroots movement on an interracial community farm in south Georgia. Since its founding in 1976, the Christian housing organization has grown to become a leading global nonprofit working in local communities across all 50 states in the U.S., Puerto Rico and more than 70 countries. Families and individuals in need of a hand up partner with Habitat for Humanity to build or improve a place they can call home. Habitat homeowners help build their own homes alongside volunteers and pay an affordable mortgage. Through financial support, volunteering or adding a voice to support affordable housing, everyone can help families achieve the strength, stability and self-reliance they need to build better lives for themselves. Through shelter, we empower. To learn more, visit habitat.org.
