H&R Block and Habitat for Humanity announce new partnership to create conversation on improving quality of life
New partnership to create impact on individual communities nationwide
ATLANTA (Feb. 25, 2020) — Habitat for Humanity International and H&R Block announced today a new partnership aimed at improving quality of life for communities nationwide through collaboration and dialogue. The partnership will bring together local residents with Habitat for Humanity affiliates and H&R Block’s 10,000 offices and 70,000 associates to partner with one another and improve the quality of life in neighborhoods across the United States.
“We look forward to partnering with Habitat for Humanity to improve connections within communities nationwide,” said Tiffany Monroe, chief people officer at H&R Block. “When we improve the spaces in neighborhoods where neighbors can convene, we’re contributing to the revitalization and improved quality of life for people everywhere.”
H&R Block is making a significant financial commitment in 2020 that will fund a variety of local grants including efforts within Habitat for Humanity’s Neighborhood Revitalization focus. The investment and involvement of H&R Block associates will result in a holistic approach based on the aspirations of the community and bring to life Habitat’s Quality of Life Framework in a number of communities nationwide.
“We are grateful to have H&R Block as our newest partner,” said Julie Laird Davis, vice president of corporate partnerships and cause marketing at Habitat for Humanity International. “With local residents leading the revitalization, we can better connect and meet the unique needs of each neighborhood. Together, we can make such a difference in people’s lives.”
The company’s partnership with Habitat for Humanity is part of its new community impact platform, Make Every Block Better, which launched in December 2019. Through this effort, H&R Block is focused on reducing isolationism in communities across the United States by fostering more conversations between neighbors and improving the places and spaces where neighbors convene. Other national partners include the Kauffman Foundation and the social hub, Nextdoor.
About Habitat for Humanity
Driven by the vision that everyone needs a decent place to live, Habitat for Humanity began in 1976 as a grassroots effort on a community farm in southern Georgia. The Christian housing organization has since grown to become a leading global nonprofit working in local communities across all 50 states in the U.S. and in more than 70 countries. Families and individuals in need of a hand up partner with Habitat for Humanity to build or improve a place they can call home. Habitat homeowners help build their own homes alongside volunteers and pay an affordable mortgage. Through financial support, volunteering or adding a voice to support affordable housing, everyone can help families achieve the strength, stability and self-reliance they need to build better lives for themselves.
