Cisco enters national partnership with Habitat for Humanity

Volunteers from near and far helped build new Habitat homes in Georgia

ATLANTA (Feb. 28, 2019) Cisco employees from North and South America have traveled to Georgia to help build homes with two families as part of a new national partnership with Habitat for Humanity. Cisco provided funding, and volunteers from their Americas sales team helped construct the homes over 12 weeklong builds.

More than 300 Cisco employees traveled to Georgia to help build two homes as part of a new partnership with Habitat.

“We’re driven every day to enable our customers through technology – but that passion to serve doesn’t stop when the work day ends,” said Jeff Sharritts, senior vice president and head of Cisco’s Americas Sales organization. “Our team thrives on opportunities like this one to be the light and make an impact in our communities, so it is an absolute privilege to be able to partner with Habitat for Humanity and build these homes.”

More than 300 Cisco employees volunteered in Forsyth County, Georgia, alongside the families. Over the course of construction, the volunteers participated in framing, hanging drywall, installing siding, painting and doing landscape work.

“We are grateful to partner with Cisco on a national level,” said Julie Laird Davis, vice president of Corporate and Foundation Relations for Habitat for Humanity International. “The generous investment of Cisco’s resources will have a lasting effect with this family and the community.”

Cisco supports programs around the world in the areas of education, economic empowerment, critical human need and environmental sustainability and has a goal to positively impact 1 billion people.

About Habitat for Humanity

Driven by the vision that everyone needs a decent place to live, Habitat for Humanity began in 1976 as a grassroots effort on a community farm in southern Georgia. The Christian housing organization has since grown to become a leading global nonprofit working in local communities across all 50 states in the U.S. and in more than 70 countries. Families and individuals in need of a hand up partner with Habitat for Humanity to build or improve a place they can call home. Habitat homeowners help build their own homes alongside volunteers and pay an affordable mortgage. Through financial support, volunteering or adding a voice to support affordable housing, everyone can help families achieve the strength, stability and self-reliance they need to build better lives for themselves. Through shelter, we empower. To learn more, visit habitat.org.
