J.M. Huber Corporation announces partnership with Habitat for Humanity International

ATLANTA (Aug. 16, 2018) — J.M. Huber Corporation today announced a strategic partnership and sponsorship pledge to Habitat for Humanity. A reflection of the Huber Principles in action, the partnership is one component of the 135-year old, family-owned company’s commitment to donate 1 percent of its net income annually to nonprofit organizations. Named Huber Helps, this expanded approach to community engagement builds on the company’s long-standing tradition of being a responsible corporate citizen.

“We’re excited about the opportunity to partner with Habitat to help families improve their living conditions through homeownership,” says Mike Marberry, president and CEO of Huber. “Habitat’s vision that everyone needs a decent place to live aligns very closely with the Huber Principle of Respect for People, which describes how our employees behave, both at work and in our communities.”

The partnership was preceded by support of Habitat by Huber Engineered Woods, one of Huber’s portfolio companies and maker of specialty engineered woods in the U.S. Huber Engineered Woods was a bronze sponsor of Habitat’s 2018 Home Builders Blitz, supplying products to a nationwide homebuilding effort that resulted in 250 homes built, renovated and repaired in communities across the country.

“Our triple bottom line approach to sustainability involves clearly defined annual people, planet and profit objectives and goals,” says Don Young, executive vice president of Environment, Health, Safety and Sustainability for Huber. “Providing Huber employees with the opportunity to work alongside Habitat homeowners to achieve the strength, stability and self-reliance they need to build better lives for themselves is a key component of our Huber Helps program.”

“We are excited that Huber is growing their partnership with us,” says Colleen Finn Ridenhour, Habitat’s senior vice president of development. “We look forward to a long partnership with Huber and appreciate their generosity to help families build their homes and dreams.”

Huber’s first Habitat home build will take place in Atlanta in November and December 2018. Employees from Huber’s offices and plants in Atlanta, Commerce, Fairmount, Marble Hill and Warner Robins, Georgia, will be invited to participate in the build as part of the company’s overall approach to encouraging volunteerism and community engagement.

About Habitat for Humanity

Driven by the vision that everyone needs a decent place to live, Habitat for Humanity began in 1976 as a grassroots effort on a community farm in southern Georgia. The Christian housing organization has since grown to become a leading global nonprofit working in local communities across all 50 states in the U.S. and in more than 70 countries. Families and individuals in need of a hand up partner with Habitat for Humanity to build or improve a place they can call home. Habitat homeowners help build their own homes alongside volunteers and pay an affordable mortgage. Through financial support, volunteering or adding a voice to support affordable housing, everyone can help families achieve the strength, stability and self-reliance they need to build better lives for themselves.
