Habitat for Humanity and Ethan Allen renew national partnership
ATLANTA (Sept. 19, 2017) — This summer, to kick off its second year of partnership with Habitat for Humanity, Ethan Allen donated a range of home products for resale at Habitat for Humanity ReStores across North America.
Over the last two years, Ethan Allen has donated more than 44,000 home products, valued at over $19 million, to support Habitat’s vision of a world where everyone has a safe and decent place to call home. The donation helped the Habitat ReStore team create more jobs and meet their fiscal year fundraising targets.
“We are grateful for Ethan Allen’s continued partnership and generous donation,” said Lynda Smith, senior director of Corporate Relations for Habitat for Humanity International. “Beyond the fact that this was the largest donation in ReStore’s history, the sale of these products allows us to do even more work to help future homeowners.”
Ethan Allen’s donation has made a positive impact on more than 140 local Habitat organizations around the country. Proceeds from the sale of products, which included furniture, home goods and soft goods items, will assist Habitat in its mission to help families achieve strength, stability and self-reliance through shelter.
“Creating happy homes is what we do best,” said Farooq Kathwari, chairman, president and CEO, Ethan Allen Interiors Inc. “We’re thrilled to help families achieve their dreams of homeownership, and we’re proud to support Habitat for Humanity’s work in our communities.”
Habitat for Humanity ReStores are nonprofit home improvement stores and donation centers that sell new and gently used furniture, appliances, home accessories, building materials and more to the public at a fraction of the retail price. Habitat ReStores are independently owned and operated by local Habitat for Humanity organizations.
About Habitat for Humanity
Driven by the vision that everyone needs a decent place to live, Habitat for Humanity began in 1976 as a grassroots effort on a community farm in southern Georgia. The Christian housing organization has since grown to become a leading global nonprofit working in more than 1,300 communities throughout the U.S. and in more than 70 countries. Families and individuals in need of a hand up partner with Habitat for Humanity to build or improve a place they can call home. Habitat homeowners help build their own homes alongside volunteers and pay an affordable mortgage. Through financial support, volunteering, or adding a voice to support affordable housing, everyone can help families achieve the strength, stability, and self-reliance they need to build better lives for themselves. Through shelter, we empower. To learn more, visit habitat.org.
