Habitat for Humanity’s Cars for Homes™ program celebrates America Recycles Day
ATLANTA (Nov. 15, 2011) — Habitat for Humanity International invites everyone to celebrate America Recycles Day by donating used cars and vehicles to help build a brighter future in partnership with low-income families.
Cars for Homes, Habitat for Humanity’s national vehicle donation program, provides donors with a quick and easy process for donating cars, trucks, boats, RVs and other vehicles to help build decent, affordable shelter in local communities.
“By recycling used and idle vehicles, Habitat for Humanity has been able to generate funds to help build, rehabilitate or repair simple, decent and affordable housing in partnership with families in need of homes,” said Marcia Rundle, the director of the program.
Revenue from the sale of donated vehicles is distributed to local Habitat affiliates based on the zip code of the donor. More than 1,011 Habitat affiliates nationwide and six Habitat national offices around the world have received funding from the program. To date, more than 11 million has been generated for affiliates through the recycling of donated vehicles.
