BANGKOK (September 10, 2013) — More than 130 plenary and track speakers will lead interactive sessions and discussions at the 4th Asia-Pacific Housing Forum which will be held at the Dusit Thani Manila from October 2 to 4.
The event organized by Habitat for Humanity is the leading platform for advocating affordable housing solutions and decent shelter for low-income families, and was last held in the Philippine capital in 2009. It brings under one roof, public, private and people sector stakeholders engaged in seeking solutions to poverty housing issues.
Plenary speakers include Alicia Bala, Deputy Secretary of ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations); Henry Cisneros, former US Housing Secretary and Founder/Chairman of institutional investment firm CityView; Philippine Senator Loren Legarda, Chairperson of the Committee on Climate Change and Committee on Environment; Dr. Krasae Chanawongse, Chairman and Executive Director of Bangkok-based Asian Disaster Preparedness Center; Dr. Rodel Lasco, Scientific Director of Oscar M. Lopez Center for Climate Change Adaptation and Disaster Risk Management Foundation Inc. (OML Center); Dr. Liu Thai-Ker, former Chief Executive Officer of Singapore’s Housing Development Board and Advisory Board Chairman, Center for Liveable Cities; Corazon “Dinky” Soliman, Secretary of the Philippine Department of Social Welfare and Development; and Vikram Gandhi, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of New Delhi-based VSG Capital Advisors.
The Forum will feature five discussion tracks focusing on affordable housing finance, disaster resilience and climate change, shared value and corporate social responsibility leadership, housing policy and advocacy, and sustainable housing solutions.
The event will also include a one-day workshop by Wharton School on housing finance, a workshop on the Eco-Town Framework by the Philippine Climate Change Commission, and demonstration/discussion workshops by the Asian Development Bank on energy efficiency technologies and sustainable energy.
