Put Your Bare Foot Forward
Annual barefoot charity walk now in its fifth year; another event raised money for HFH Singapore and set local record for biggest “brick wall” built
At last year’s Bare Your Sole, some opted for a walk in the park (left) while others (right) preferred a sprint.
SINGAPORE (April 15, 2013) — Registration is now open for the fifth annual “Habitat-Barclays Bare Your Sole” event to be held on June 1 in a Singapore park.
The 2.5 or 5 km. barefoot walk will raise funds for a Habitat for Humanity Singapore project to improve the homes of the elderly or disabled living in cramped and often unhealthy conditions.
Take a leaf out of the book of HFH Singapore’s goodwill ambassador, model/actor Paul Foster, and form four-member teams for a corporate 100 km. relay. The fastest team stands to win air tickets to an Asian destination sponsored by Cathay Pacific.

Separately, youthful energy knows no bounds when it comes to raising money. A Singapore school ACS International has recently raised more than S6,000 (US4,830) for HFH Singapore through an event.
For S2 a paper brick, supporters drew or wrote words on them which were then used to build a wall. It took at least 2,000 “bricks” to build the wall which was 7.8-meter-long and 2.4-meter-high.
The wall, which was displayed inside a local mall, has won a place in the Singapore Book of Records.
Registered in March 2002, HFH Singapore is involved in fundraising, advocacy and sending volunteers for Habitat builds in the Asia-Pacific region and other parts of the world. It also organizes local home improvement and safety projects. In addition, HFH Singapore raises funds to support Habitat disaster response projects in the region and beyond.
