TOKYO, 19th May 2006: The 6,000 fans at the recent charity concert, Yokohama Love Summit 2006, in central Japan heard more than songs from Japanese and Korean stars. They heeded the call to donate to Habitat for Humanity Japan and contributed nearly 1.9 million yen (about US17,240).

The recent one-day concert at the waterfront convention center Pacifico Yokohama featured well-known Korean stars such as popular movie star Kim Jae-won, pop band Paran, singer Kim Jo Han and Japanese acapella group Rag Fair.

Before the concert began, more than 40 volunteers, mostly from campus chapters in Aoyama Gakuin University, Meiji Gakuin University and Kanda University, drew the fans’ attention to Habitat’s work in reducing poverty housing. Eye-catching in their pink jackets, the volunteers also shared their experiences of Habitat builds and sought donations from the visitors.

At the end of the day, the concert was more than an artistic exchange between Korean and Japanese artistes. The event also turned the spotlight on Habitat’s work and raised awareness and funds.
