Gospel Comes to Habitat’s EXPO Stand * * * More Performers Expected to Support Fight against Poverty Housing

Good news: American country music singer Robin Lees with a Habitat for Humanity fan at EXPO

NAGOYA , 27th May 2005: American country gospel guitarist and singer Robin Lees performed live – in Japanese – at the 2005 World Expo near Nagoya , Japan , last week.

Ms Lees, who writes most of her own music, gave two shows at EXPO, donating her talents to raise awareness of Habitat for Humanity’s work. Her second show was at the US national pavilion.

Ms Lees traveled from her home in San Antonio , Texas , with her husband and two sons, and is expecting to return to EXPO later this summer to perform again.

Her visit was organized through the International Mission Board of the Japan Baptist Mission, which has been supporting Habitat’s display. The Japan Baptist Missionaries or Southern Baptists have been in Japan for 100 years.

Mrs. Lee isn’t the only high profile performer to spend time at the Habitat booth. Other groups of performers are expected later this summer. They include a Hawaiian hula team; a 65-member choir, band and dance team led by the choir director of US TV programs “Star Search” and “American Idol”; and Camp Kirkland ‘s Metro Big Band.

Like Ms. Lees, members of these three acts are donating their time and paying their own expenses to perform at the Expo.
