Homes destroyed: Tsunamis leave a trail of devastation in Sri Lanka

“Americans can donate directly to reliable charities already providing help to tsunami victims”. President George W. Bush

BANGKOK, 4th January 2005: Habitat for Humanity International is one of around 60 organizations raising vital funds in the wake of the Indian Ocean tsunamis that are featured on a US-government backed website supported by US President George W. Bush.

“Americans can donate directly to reliable charities already providing help to tsunami victims”, said the President on Monday. President Bush also called for support from his predecessors, Bill Clinton and his father George H. Bush, to lead an effort to encourage more donations.

The President referred to the US Government aid website, which contains a list of recommended non-profit agencies working to provide assistance to people affected by the earthquake and tsunamis.
