Sr. Director - Global Program Communications

Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI) is seeking a creative and strategic professional to serve as the Sr. Director - Global Program Communications. The Senior Director of Global Program Communications will lead communications efforts related to Habitat’s programs around the world, engaging key stakeholder groups to bring both hearts and minds to the work of adequate, affordable housing. The Senior Director will oversee a team of 15+ that manages communications channels and initiatives outside the U.S. and Canada – from news media and regional social media channels to events and newsletters -- while also collaborating with colleagues in the larger Global Communications division to gather and tell the stories of Habitat’s international program work. The leader of the Global Program Communications team will help ensure a unified approach to Habitat communications activities in four regions (Africa; Asia-Pacific; Europe and the Middle East; and Latin America and the Caribbean), equipping an international network of employees and national organizations with the tools and training to advance marketing, fundraising, advocacy, and program strategies. The Senior Director also will manage a team of program communications specialists who elevate the profile of Habitat’s priority programs with target audiences. The successful candidate will bring a depth of experience in global advocacy communications. The incumbent will help the Habitat network advocate for policy changes and establish the organization as a leading voice growing awareness of housing as a critical foundation upon which people can build a better, healthier, more financially stable life.

This position can be based in any of the following locations: United States, United Kingdom, Slovakia, Costa Rica, Kenya or Belgium either remote or hybrid. Travel globally up to 20% is required for this role.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
** Responsible for developing and implementing international communications strategies related to advocacy, marketing, fundraising and programs.
** Unify communications for a global network of four area offices (Africa; Asia-Pacific; Europe and the Middle East; and Latin America and the Caribbean) and 70 national organizations.
** Provide strategic communications leadership and support for Global Program Communications team, optimizing the time, talents and resources of regional and program communications functions.
** Lead Global Program Communications team in the development of core messaging, stories and other tools describing Habitat’s mission and programs globally.
** Provide leadership and coordination for communications support for international disaster response and recovery programs
** Lead international crisis communications work and provide crisis counsel to the international Habitat network in close collaboration with Global Communications leadership.
** Serve on the leadership team of the 85+ person Global Communications division, modeling inclusive and accountable leadership and a culture of belonging
** Manage team of program specialists who elevate the profile of Habitat’s priority programs with target audiences.
** Lead the development and execution of cross-functional communications plans and strategies that require coordination across teams in Global Communications and other divisions.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
** Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience
** 15 years, with 5 years in a managerial or professional role leading communications and/or advocacy function
** Proven, demonstrated knowledge of advocacy communications strategies, tactics and objectives
** Proven, demonstrated knowledge of public and media relations concepts, techniques and practices.
** Leadership and people management, including coaching, training, and motivating employees to new levels of excellence.
** Knowledge of current and emerging communications issues and trends, particularly in the nonprofit sector.
** Ability to provide effective counsel on strategic and critical communications and advocacy issues.
** Outstanding written communications skills, with mastery of AP style.
** Outstanding oral communications skills, with ability to develop and deliver effective presentations.
** Commitment to fostering a collaborative work environment within the Global Program Communications team, the larger Global Communications division, and the broader organization.
** Demonstrable experience establishing and overseeing the execution of communications systems that help teams work together and get results, particularly in federated organizations.

The actual salary offered for this role will be based on a variety of factors, including location, internal equity and the candidate’s qualifications and professional experience. HFHI offers a competitive, comprehensive benefits package that varies by country and typically includes vacation leave, sick leave, personal days, health insurance options, retirement plan contributions and life insurance. For work locations in the US, the hiring range for this position is $116,030 to $136,500.

Staff hired on a hybrid basis in the United States near an HFHI office location (Atlanta, Georgia / Washington, DC and Americus, GA), are required to report to the office on Tuesdays.
