Major and Planned Giving Officer
Responsibilities include maintaining a portfolio for direct major gifts solicitations and sponsorships, overseeing their cultivation and engagement and designing creative acquisition and stewardship experiences. A special focus will be placed on growing, year over year, $5,000+ individual giving and collaborating with donors and financial advisors on expectancies, and estate gifts. An elevated level of sophistication working with high-net-worth individuals, professional finesse, tact, quality control, and rigorous oversight on all projects and processes is required. In this role, the MPGO will have a unique chance to shape the future endowment fund and gift planning strategy and develop innovative approaches to engage major donors.
Education Qualification:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience in Nonprofit Management, Fundraising, Business, or related field.
Experience Qualifications:
Experience working with and managing a development/fundraising team.
Experience in cultivating major donors and securing planned gifts.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Knowledge of fundraising practices and strategies. Preferred 5-7 years of demonstrated achievement meeting or exceeding established annual goals.
Ability to develop and implement fundraising plans. Preferred 5-7 years of special event fundraising experience.
Experience in stewardship and donor relations. Preferred 5-7 years of progressive major gifts fundraising (gifts of $5,000+) and sponsorship solicitation (including those of $20,000+).
Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Required Skills and Abilities:
Experience with identifying and working with high net-worth individual/corporate donors
Organizational skills for a dynamic working environment.
Excellent communication skills, including the ability to write and speak, clearly and effectively, to listen, and the capacity to engage, inspire, and persuade.
Ability to work independently and be self-motivated in initiating contacts with potential donors.
Microsoft Office knowledge including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.
Experience with CRM/database management.
Experience with grant writing and submission.
Physical Requirements to Perform Essential Functions:
Work is performed mostly in an office environment and requires the ability to operate office equipment, including a keyboard and mouse.
An individual may be subjected to moderate noise levels due to Habitat NWMA warehouse activity during the building season.
Must be able to lift and carry small parcels (15 pounds or less) and other items, walk short distances, and drive to deliver and pick up materials to donors.
