A sense of belonging starts with a home

Having her own home was a turning point for Sophal in a life marked by hardships including the death of her husband. She helped construct her home together with volunteers during the 2018 Legacy Build in Cambodia’s Kandal province.

Habitat accesses federal funding to increase affordable homeownership in Minnesota

Financial support and housing programs from federal agencies like the U.S. Department of Agriculture can have a major impact on the number of families Habitat affiliates can partner with. For North St. Louis County Habitat in rural Minnesota, USDA funding has helped the affiliate increase their affordable homebuilding.

After her partner died, Dina feared that she would be unable to make ends meet on a single income and wanted nothing more than to provide a safe and stable home for her daughters. Now, her dreams are coming true with support from Habitat and Wells Fargo Builds.

Star loves winding down with her family in their modern-style Habitat home after a busy day. Evenings are filled with joy and laughter when her family gathers together for movie and game nights.

Jessie hoped the home she’s lived most of her life would be a place her family could enjoy and pass down to future generations. That’s why she worked alongside Habitat for Humanity of York County, with support from Wells Fargo Builds, to help her make her home a safe place to live.

Seeds of stability

Habitat Mexico was helping families construct safe and durable homes near Camilo’s village and he frequently made the hours-long journey on horseback to their work site to check on their progress, learn about Habitat’s construction program and try to convince them to expand their program to his hometown further south — his persistence paid off.

Reflecting on 25 years of homeownership, friendship

Homeowner Kathy reflects on what life has brought her after she and her daughters moved into their Habitat home in Boise, Idaho, 25 years ago. “Back then, before Habitat, I figured that homeownership would always be out of reach,” she says.
