Over the years, we’ve witnessed families and volunteers swap smiles and stories, connect across cultures and languages and make both memories and an impact while working together to build homes and hope on a Habitat build site.
Through our Aging in Place program, Habitat aims to help older adults make the upgrades and repairs necessary to ensure their homes are accessible and safe to continue living in as they age. These stories exemplify our work to provide these accessible accommodations across the U.S.

“Taking a shower and having proper handrails in the tub. The handrail in the hallway for helping us steady ourselves,” Bryant says. “They’re little things, but they’re game-changers when you get older.”
Homeowner Kathy reflects on what life has brought her after she and her daughters moved into their Habitat home in Boise, Idaho, 25 years ago. “Back then, before Habitat, I figured that homeownership would always be out of reach,” she says.
Antonia Cuffee shares how growing up in a Habitat home gave her the stability and values she needed which has led to many successes in her life.
