After more than a year of renovations performed by more than 900 volunteers, one Habitat family is excited to start the New Year in their new home.
Earlier this year, Phala, Chariya and their four children moved into a climate-sensitive Habitat home they helped build Cambodia’s Battambang province. The look of their home is similar to others in the area — but the difference is in the details.
In 1991, five volunteers opened Habitat for Humanity’s first-ever ReStore in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Today, there are more than 1,000 ReStore locations across six countries, all contributing to Habitat’s vision of a world where everyone has a decent place to live.
Habitat is engaged with its local organizations throughout the storm’s anticipated path, and is encouraging residents to prepare for the storm.
By partnering with Habitat, families and communities transform their lives with the incredible effects of safe and affordable shelter, including improvements in health, safety, child development, economic opportunity and educational achievement.
Habitat’s capacity building program in Puerto Rico, funded by AbbVie, helped support the development of a solar-powered energy hub that provides a safe place where families can shelter during weather-related emergencies.
