Habitat welcomes Brooke Rollins as secretary of Agriculture
Habitat for Humanity International CEO Jonathan Reckford issued the following statement regarding the U.S. Senate’s confirmation of Brooke Rollins to head the U.S. Department of Agriculture:
ATLANTA (Feb. 17, 2025) — Congratulations to Brooke Rollins for her confirmation to lead the U.S. Department of Agriculture. USDA Rural Development champions a diverse array of initiatives including the Single-Family Housing Direct Loan Program, Single Family Housing Repair Loans and Grants, the Housing Preservation Grant Program and the Mutual Self-Help Housing Program. Partnership through these programs make it possible for Habitat to spread our mission of building and preserving safe, decent, affordable housing to historically overlooked rural and tribal communities.
Habitat looks forward to continuing our long partnership working together to address homeownership supply, access and resilience with USDA under her leadership.
About Habitat for Humanity
Driven by the vision that everyone needs a decent place to live, Habitat for Humanity found its earliest inspirations as a grassroots movement on an interracial community farm in south Georgia. Since its founding in 1976, the Christian housing organization has since grown to become a leading global nonprofit working in local communities across all 50 U.S. states, Puerto Rico and more than 70 countries. Families and individuals in need of a hand up partner with Habitat for Humanity to build or improve a place they can call home. Habitat homeowners help build their own homes alongside volunteers and pay an affordable mortgage. Through financial support, volunteering or adding a voice to support affordable housing, everyone can help families achieve the strength, stability and self-reliance they need to build better lives for themselves. Through shelter, we empower. To learn more, visit habitat.org.
