Help us turn the key on housing
Join Habitat’s Home is the Key campaign to help more families unlock homeownership — the key to connection, well-being and stability.
Habitat knows that safe, affordable homes change lives and communities, yet the U.S. housing crisis is increasing for communities in every region of the country.
While the challenges are different, the severity of the housing crisis is no less in rural areas and smaller towns than in urban and suburban areas. In 2024, home prices and interest rates raised the costs of homebuying to historic highs, pricing out millions of potential first-time buyers, slowing homeownership growth and exacerbating disparities in homeownership.
We must join forces with our neighbors to develop more inclusive communities and create areas of opportunity where families can thrive. This April, Home is the Key reminds us that we all benefit when homeownership is accessible to everyone.
Join us in opening doors to homeownership and stronger communities.

Why support Home is the Key?
Home is the key to a better future.
Shelter is not a privilege — it’s a human need. Decent, affordable housing plays a key role in a family’s education, health, wealth and well-being. However, not every household has the same opportunities to succeed.
Many families have been locked out for too long.
Homeownership is a key driver of American household wealth. But structural inequality in the U.S. housing market has widened homeownership disparities compared to when the Fair Housing Act was passed in 1968.
Join us in creating more inclusive communities.
