Carter Work Project 2013

Oct. 6-12, 2013, the Jimmy & Rosalynn Carter Work Project improved homes and communities in California, Colorado, New York and New Jersey.

Hosted in four states, the 2013 event honored the three decades of service by the former President and his wife.

The build sites were located in Oakland and San Jose, California; Denver, Colorado; New York City and Union Beach, New Jersey. The volunteers built new, energy-efficient houses, made critical repairs, rehabilitated homes and performed weatherization and home preservation projects.

Thirty years after helping Habitat for Humanity rebuild a derelict apartment building on New York City’s Lower East Side, the first couple returned to visit some of the families who have thrived there since.
