Banana Republic asks customers to join brand’s give-back program

New York (May 27, 2014) — Banana Republic announced the expansion of its ONEALL program that commits volunteer hours and fundraising support to organizations that make a difference in communities where the brand’s employees work and live. Over the first weekend in June, customers are invited to shop for a cause in support of four nonprofit organizations: Habitat for Humanity, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Boys & Girls Clubs and Dress for Success.

ONEALL was launched in 2010 to encourage employees to support their local communities through volunteering, tying back to the social-minded spirit of Banana Republic’s hometown of San Francisco and since then, employees have volunteered more than 178,000 hours of service. As an extension of the current ONEALL program, Banana Republic is partnering with Habitat for Humanity, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Boys & Girls Clubs and Dress for Success, and is encouraging customers to participate by crowdsourcing votes on how financial support should be distributed among partners.

During the weekend of June 5 through June 8, customers will receive 25 percent off their Banana Republic purchases, with 5 percent of sales being donated to community organizations – up to a goal of 500,000. From May 26 to June 8, customers are invited to visit bananarepublic.com/OneandAll to vote for which of the four participating nonprofits they would like to have contribution dollars benefit. While each organization will receive a donation, customer votes will determine the percentage each receives.

In 2013, more than 6,000 Banana Republic employees in North America and Canada participated in nearly 60,000 hours of skills-based volunteering, creating more than 1.3 million of value in hours benefitting local communities.

“Giving back to our communities has long been an important part of the Banana Republic employee culture,” said Roy Hunt, senior vice president of Banana Republic global stores, operations, field visual and store design. “By encouraging our customers to get involved, we are able to expand the message of this valuable work and make a larger impact nationwide.”
