Why we are thankful

In this season of giving thanks, millions of families will gather at home to remember good times and to create more. That’s what a home does; it provides a stable place for families to grow strong and make memories.

Shauntika Johnson and her son, Josiah, are thankful for their new Habitat home. “It’s amazing what a permanent address will do for you,” Shauntika says.

Habitat for Humanity works alongside families like Shauntika’s in communities all over the world to help them build or improve a place they can call home. We are thankful to be able to help these homeowners fulfill their dreams. We appreciate how a home can help a family build a better life for themselves.

And we give thanks to all those who make that opportunity possible. Your gifts, your voice, your time make strength, stability and self-reliance a reality for more families every day.

Your support of Habitat makes all the difference. Just one example: A recent study found that 92 percent of Habitat homeowners surveyed in Minnesota said their lives have improved because of their homes. That’s something to celebrate, something for which we are tremendously thankful.
