Habitat for Humanity in Germany

Habitat for Humanity Germany began operations in 1998. The national office is based in Cologne. Habitat Germany has with 20 staff members and a five-person board of directors.

Its work primarily focuses on raising funds for the international and local projects of Habitat for Humanity.

 

Habitat Germany’s focus

Foundations, organizations and institutions

Habitat for Humanity Germany has established relationships with institutions and foundations. We are a member of the U.N.-affiliated Global Compact Network in Germany that brings together industry and nonprofits. Habitat Germany also actively raises funds for emergency relief work and we are a member of Aktion Deutschland Hilft, the country’s No. 1 relief coalition. The Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development is an aid donor of Habitat Germany as well. 

 

Corporate partnerships
In Germany, Habitat works by building long-term and multi-level relationships with leading companies, especially with multinational corporations.

 

HoffnungsBAUer – Initiative HopeBUILDer

The “HoffnungsBAUer” initiative brings together companies in the construction and real estate industry to help people in need of decent housing. It serves as a platform for the industry to assume social responsibility and create impact. The HoffnungsBAUer supports the work of Habitat Germany financially and through corporate volunteering.

 

Volunteering

Habitat Germany cooperates with corporate partners in Germany. Working with Habitat allows corporate teams of construction volunteers to fulfill their social responsibility and strengthen the community spirit through service learning.
