Indian, Thai And Hong Kong Celebrities For Habitat For Humanity Youth BUILD
In Philippines, 2,000 Volunteers To Help Typhoon-Hit Families Rebuild Homes As Part Of Simultaneous Blitz Builds In Five Countries On 12 May

BANGKOK, 27 February 2012: Two well-known Indian actors are supporting Habitat for Humanity’s five-country Youth BUILD. They are Indian American actor Omi Vaidya, best known for his role as The Silencer in the 2009 Bollywood film 3 Idiots, and young actress Aditi Rao Hydari who is starring in the new Hindi movie London, Paris, New York to be released next month.
Looksorn Bhandhukravi, a Thai singer who will be releasing her first single soon, has also joined the Habitat Youth BUILD celebrity volunteer brigade.
Hong Kong-based singers and Habitat ambassadors Michael Wong, William Chan and Sherman Chung are also onboard. Together, the celebrities will lend their support to fight the scourge of substandard or “poverty” housing and rally young people in the Asia-Pacific region to create a world where everyone has a decent place to live.
In the Philippines, youth volunteers can look forward to simultaneous builds at two sites on 12 May. Over 2,000 volunteers will be helping families affected by recent typhoons to rebuild their homes and their lives in Tanza, Navotas City and Indahag, Cagyan de Oro City.
Philippine bloggers are also challenged to come together to raise funds to build a home. Launched by the Philippines Blog Awards together with Habitat, the project – Bloggers for Habitat YB Philippines – invites savvy social media users to help spread the word and raise funds for Habitat’s Youth BUILD.
