Thousands Of Young People In China, India, Indonesia, Philippines And Thailand To Build Homes And Show Support Through Social Media

JAKARTA/MUMBAI, 28th November 2011: On 12th May 2012, Habitat for Humanity’s YouthBUILD will bring together young people in five Asia-Pacific countries – China, India, Indonesia, the Philippines and Thailand – to help build homes, communities and hope.

Thousands of young people will spend a single day on a local Habitat build site and hundreds of thousands of others will show their solidarity with Habitat’s vision by participating through their favorite social or digital media networks.

Habitat for Humanity Indonesia kicked off its contribution with the launch recently in Jakarta of its “28uild” (read “to build”) campaign. Habitat aims to attract 1,500 young people to work alongside Indonesian families to build 150 homes in different sites in May. Tens of thousands more are invited to support the event via online fundraising and social media.

Over in India, Habitat’s goodwill ambassador Jacqueline Fernandes is expected to unveil a soft launch of the country’s YouthBUILD this weekend.
