Hyundai Supports Korean College Students On Habitat Builds In China For Third Time
South Korean Carmaker Also Funds Student Volunteers In Brazil
SEOUL, 21st October 2010: For the third time, South Korean carmaker Hyundai Motor Company has supported Korean college students on Habitat builds in China and Brazil.

The students were recruited under Hyundai’s Happy Move Global Youth Volunteers program.
Recently Habitat for Humanity Korea helped to organize a total of nearly 200 volunteers for builds in Guangdong province, southern China, and Sao Paulo, Brazil, the largest city in South America.
Ninety of the volunteers were sent in two groups, one after another, to build for a week with Habitat in Fengmulang sub-village in Guangzhou, the provincial capital of Guangdong.
After the build was completed, the volunteers traveled northeast to Shanghai to visit a Hyundai manufacturing facility in Yancheng city as well as for some sightseeing.
Around the same time of the builds in China, another 105 volunteers helped out in Vale das Flores village, Jaragua city, Sao Paulo. Later the volunteers travelled to Piracicaba city in Sao Paulo for more volunteering work and some sightseeing.
In Guangdong, the volunteers laid foundation by leveling the ground, assembling iron bars, digging for drainage channel and building brick walls.
In Brazil, the volunteers helped to demolish old buildings, leveling the ground to lay foundation and digging drainage channel, among other tasks.
Hyundai began its support for such builds in August 2009 when 110 Korean university students worked in earthquake-hit Sichuan province, China. After the build, Hyundai also presented a US150,000 donation to Habitat for Humanity for post-earthquake reconstruction in China’s Sichuan province.
The following year, in January 2010, Hyundai funded more than 300 students building in Sichuan and Sao Paulo.
