Vice President, Finance

The Vice President, Finance reports to the Chief Financial & Administration Officer. The VP, Finance is a key global leadership role and partners closely with other senior leaders to develop global financial strategies and products. The VP, Finance is responsible for overseeing and managing all accounting and financial aspects of the global organization, including the creation and establishment of financial policies and procedures as well as internal controls. The VP, Finance works closely with Chief Financial & Admin Officer on global financial strategies, forecasts, budgets and revenue estimates. This position also reports regularly to the Habitat Board Finance Committee, President and CEO, and other senior leaders on financial performance and its impact on strategy and new financial products. This position will be based in either Atlanta, Georgia or Americus, GA on a hybrid basis.

Essential Duties:
• Advise the Chief Executive Office, Chief Financial & Admin Officer, and other Senior Leaders, etc. regarding the global financial operations of Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI) with detailed analysis and strategic recommendations.
• Work with HFHI Area Offices on international forecasting, planning, and analysis, including coordinating the annual financial and capital plan for each Area Office/division, developing strategic business plans and financial products, and analyzing year over year trends and variances analysis to operating & capital plans.
• Direct and oversee the development and implementation of the annual budget, including appropriate analysis of issues affecting revenue and/or expenditures with strategic recommendations for improvement, preparation of long-range budget forecasts, administration of budget process, and recommend budget amendments as necessary through the course of each fiscal year.
• Develop a culture of continuous improvement in the areas of responsibility and drive cost and operational efficiency throughout the organization.
• Create, implement, and make recommendations for new and/or revised policies related to HFHI finances and financial administrative services.
• Support design and lead deployment of an integrated ERP system, including advanced analytic and process improvement tools, such as AI enabled systems.
• Supervise the maintenance of accounting systems and data, and the presentation of financial data; ensure financial systems are integrated and accurate information is provided to management and end-users.
• Establish and maintain an internal control system to ensure that financial transactions are based upon established procedures as required by the Federal, State and Local governments, HFHI policies, external auditors and Board of Directors policies and procedures.
• Oversee the development and preparation of all monthly and annual financial reports for the Chief Executive Officer, Chief Admin & Financial Officer and the Board of Trustees and other reports as required. Present and discuss monthly financial statements at board meetings.
• Manage all aspects of the annual financial audit and will ensure unqualified year-end audit; take appropriate action to address audit findings and recommendations.
• Establish and maintain global financial systems to provide appropriate controls in accordance with HFHI ‘s policies, procedures and standard;
• Manage finance functions including GL, payroll, treasury, audit, FP&A/Board and management reporting.
• Drive operational controllership across the business, maintaining rigor around operating metrics.
• Design and manage purchasing and inventory systems, coordinate, report and assist with evaluating HFHI’s fiscal stability.

• All other Management / Supervision of employees - 50%

Minimum Requirements:
• Education: Bachelor’s degree. MBA in Accounting or Finance preferred.
• Years of Related Experience: 15+ years including 10+ of management responsibilities; international financial management.
o Demonstrable alignment with the mission and vision of HFHI
o Strong Supervisory Skills and proven record of continuous improvement in the areas of responsibility.
o Proven knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), CPA strongly preferred.
o Proven ability to lead significant change management.
o Adept in global fiscal management principles and processes, including resource management and needs assessment.
o Excellent working knowledge in the following areas: INGO industry, global finance management, international investment funds, and federal and institutional grants and contracts.
o US Government solicitation, pricing and accounting practices.
o Ability to influence senior management and provide information for strategy planning and daily operations.
o Ability to provide appropriate communication to all who need to know and to the organization.
o Ability to provide financial analysis and planning; monthly, quarterly, annual, and triannual planning and report findings to Senior Leadership.
o Strong knowledge of FP and A

Preferred Requirements (in addition to minimum):
• Knowledge of mortgage (CDFI) concepts and international investment funds
• Experience as global VP of Finance or CFO
• Strong leadership, supervisory and interpersonal skills.
• Strong communication abilities.
• Excellent analytical abilities.
• Audit and IT experience.

The actual salary offered for this role will be based on a variety of factors, including location, internal equity and the candidate’s qualifications and professional experience. HFHI offers a competitive, comprehensive benefits package that varies by country and typically includes vacation leave, sick leave, personal days, health insurance options, retirement plan contributions and life insurance. For work locations in the US, the hiring range for this position is $216,750 to $255,000.

Staff hired on a hybrid basis in the United States near an HFHI office location (Atlanta, Georgia / Washington, DC and Americus, GA), are required to report to the office on Tuesdays.
