Program Manager - Vulnerable Populations
The Program Manager is an agile leader and practitioner with experience engaging diverse groups in program design, planning, and implementation. They have experience managing peer-to-peer learning and communities of practice and producing guidance and training. They will oversee grantmaking for affiliates serving vulnerable populations, including military-connected communities, and support the implementation of person-centered, trauma-informed service models. The program manager will leverage their professional experience and skills to create frameworks, programs, and pathways to support these vulnerable populations in accessing homeownership and reducing community racial and socioeconomic disparities.
This position will be remotely based within the US.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the affiliated network in designing equity-focused strategies to support vulnerable populations in accessing affordable housing. Develop and execute relevant training for the Habitat-affiliated network (25%)
- Serve as subject matter expert on trauma-informed practices that connect low-income and at-risk populations like Veteran and military-connected families, women, and racially disparaged populations to services and other equity-focused work to build tools and partnerships that support outcomes and impact. (may include frequent travel within the US) (25%)
- Connect grantmaking to goals, strategy, and program delivery improvements to market-based strategies and funding opportunities (10%)
- Develop key internal partnerships with internal programs departments and affiliates working to expand investment, influence, and engagement in equity programs (15%)
- Support program communication efforts internally and externally (10%)
- Facilitate meetings in support of internal and external advisory groups who will codesign strategies (10%)
- Other related duties as assigned by supervisor (5%)
Key Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience
- At least 5 to 7 years of program management/coordination experience focused on developing the livelihoods of vulnerable/diverse populations
- Knowledge of, experience in, and commitment to social justice, racial justice, and other forms of equity and systems-level transformation
- Demonstrated experience with military/veteran organizations and/or other housing-related non-profits
- Deep understanding of the racial inequities faced by BIPOC communities
- Familiarity with the national landscape of social and military-connected service providers and partner organizations focusing on vulnerable communities
- Knowledge of trauma-informed service models
- Experience designing equity-focused strategies and training
- Strong program and project management skills, including the ability to monitor and produce on-time deliverables for multiple projects with competing priorities
- Ability to work independently and take initiative on projects
- Group facilitation skills and ability to lead presentations virtually and in person
Preferred:
- 5-7 years of nonprofit program management work experience
- 5-7 years’ experience with program/s focused on meeting the needs of diverse groups and/or vulnerable populations
- Veterans and those with lived experience in the military are encouraged to apply
- Experience working with a collaborative team in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment
- Ability to conduct topical research and produce quality written and visually appealing documents
- Affordable housing background preferred
- Experience in knowledge management, peer-to-peer sharing and communities of practice
- Knowledge of emerging digital engagement strategies
- Strong writing and communication skills
- Knowledge of MS software, internet & basic office equipment

The actual salary offered for this role will be based on a variety of factors, including location, internal equity and the candidate’s qualifications and professional experience. HFHI offers a competitive, comprehensive benefits package that varies by country and typically includes vacation leave, sick leave, personal days, health insurance options, retirement plan contributions and life insurance. For work locations in the US, the hiring range for this position is $72,000 to $85,000.
