Thrivent Builds with Habitat for Humanity is a four-year, $125 million alliance between Thrivent Financial for Lutherans and Habitat for Humanity International. The alliance, known as Thrivent Builds, has brought together the financial, volunteer and advocacy resources of Thrivent Financial and the resources and capacities of hundreds of Habitat for Humanity’s local affiliates to build more than 1,000 homes since 2005.
In December 2008, Thrivent Financial announced its 2009 commitments: more than $24 million to be awarded to Habitat affiliates for the construction of 314 homes in 37 states and the District of Columbia. An additional $1.7 million will go to the Mississippi Gulf Coast, where rebuilding efforts are still essential following Hurricane Katrina.

Thrivent Builds Programs
Thrivent Builds includes four programs to help end poverty housing and help families achieve greater economic independence.
Thrivent Builds Homes is a national program that joins the nearly 3 million Thrivent Financial members with Habitat for Humanity volunteers and other Lutherans, their families and their communities to build hundreds of homes annually in the United States.
Thrivent Builds Worldwide is a program of short-term (one- to three-week) international and domestic working trips for individuals or groups to build Habitat houses in partnership with families facing critical housing needs.
Thrivent Builds Neighborhoods seeks to be a catalyst for neighborhood transformation by distributing several multi-year grants to coalitions of community organizations for planning and implementing systematic and sustainable improvements in a specific neighborhood so that its inhabitants experience a higher quality of life.
Thrivent Builds Mobile is a one-of-a-kind mobile multimedia exhibit designed to help Americans experience—if only for a few minutes—what it means to live in substandard housing. It is a 48-foot semitrailer that enables visitors to experience substandard housing and learn what they can do to address this problem that affects more than 30 million American families.
