We did it! -- Habitat for Humanity Int'l 1
June 9, 2006We did it!
We...did...it! A certificate of occupancy was awarded at 1:04 p.m. today for 4358 Ironbound Road!
It’s been a great week, and I can’t believe how much happened each day. It went remarkably smoothly. I attribute this to three things: (1) We had all the materials on site; (2) People were on time for their scheduled slots; and (3) People had great attitudes and got their work done fast.
I’m tired, but it’s a good kind of tired where you really feel like your effort added up to something. When someone asks how my week was, I’ll be able to reply that I participated in the Habitat for Humanity Home Builders Blitz and we built a house this week.
Wayne Harbin said this afternoon, “I’m so proud, I don’t know what to do!” It truly was a team effort, and that team was large. It included employees willing to come in on the weekend, suppliers to donate materials, subcontractors to put it all together, and sponsors to give us donations and keep us fed. I’m really proud of everyone — this was a chance for people to shine and they did.
We met the challenge this week after months of planning and I couldn’t be more satisfied. Thanks everyone!
