A week to remember -- Habitat for Humanity Int'l 1
June 9, 2006A week to remember
Well, here we are at the end of the journey and let me say it has been a week to remember. KB Home completed the Prentice family home yesterday. Yes, you read it correctly...yesterday. Today all we had to do was sit back and appreciate the hard work that our team put into building the home. OK, here is the portion of the program where I get to brag: Everyone here is talking about the “Prentice family’s KB Home.” We not only finished way ahead of schedule, but our team went above and beyond on this project. Our VP of Operations, Rainer Busch, and our regional construction manager/superintendent, Harold Levin, took us to a whole new level of excellence. Not only did they raise the bar, but their giving spirit was apparent throughout the week. In fact, last night when Harold heard that the Prentice family was going to purchase a used washer and dryer for their home, he went out and purchased a new washer and dryer for the family. It is this type of dedication and giving spirit that defines KB Home and every one of our employees.
Today’s ceremony represents the culmination of hours of hard work and preparation, and we couldn’t be more proud of the results. The Prentice family smiled from ear to ear as we handed them the keys to their new home. They described the whole experience as “surreal” and “amazing.” Without any prompting from her parents their 2 1/2-year-old daughter, Bella, pointed at their new home and said: “That’s our new house. I really like my pink room.” This really says it all. ...On behalf of KB Home I would like to thank Habitat for Humanity, our trade partners who worked tirelessly all week, all of the volunteers, the city of Escondido, and the Prentice family for making this week possible and allowing us to be a part of this incredible experience. Welcome home, Prentice family....
